Hillcrest Home still seeks state funds CAMBRIDGE, Ill. Henry County's Hillcrest Home, the county-owned senior citizens' home, is still having trouble getting money from the seemingly bankrupt state of Illinois. "In November, Hillcrest got checks from the Illinois Department of Public Aid for June and for August," said Howard Olson, Galva, the chairman of the county board's Human Services Committee. "We still haven't received anything for July, which we can't quite figure out. And September is past due now.

We just don't know what's going on down there (in Springfield)." Right now, the state owes Hillcrest about $375,000 in back payments for public aid patients. Olson said it is difficult if not impossible to determine when the state will catch up with its payment schedule. Meanwhile, Hillcrest is managing to pay its bills, but the money that is being used to do that is budgeted for other things. "It's not a good situation, but I don't know exactly what we here in Henry County can do about it," Olson said. AREA County readies for March primary CAMBRIDGE, Ill.
