Metro briefs Unn I 4 QUAD-CITY TIMES Saturday, March 8, 1986 William Ohlsen, 66 Ellen Mangier SABULA, Iowa Ellen Hester Mangier, 83, of Sabula died Friday at her home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at William Ohlsen, 66, of 3413 43rd Ave, Moline, died Thursday at University Hospitals, Iowa City, after injuries received in an auto accident on Intersate 80 near Iowa City. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary.

Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. He retired in 19S4 from Hunter's Club, Rock Island.

He had owned and operated Saddle Club Barn, Mount Joy and Davenport for 30 years. Mr. Ohlsen married Alice Hicks in 1944 in Springfield, Mo. She died in 1977. He married Delia Hunter in 1978.

She died in 1979. He married Ellen Ludwiginl980. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Charles Bowman DOWNEY. Iowa Charles H.

Bowman, 66, of Downey died Thursday in Longview, Texas. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Barker Funeral Home, West Branch. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m.

Sunday. A memorial has been established. He had been employed in the trucking business. Mr. Bowman married Blanche Countryman.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Judith Baer, Nevada, Mo, and Mary Lou Brendel and Patricia Bickford, both of West Branch; sons, Chester, West Branch, and Charles, McAllen, Texas; and 11 grandchildren. Roy Swanson MORRISON, I1L Roy S. Swan-son, 87, of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, died Friday at Morrison Community HospitaL Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, preceded by a 1:45 p.m. family prayer service.

Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Renkes-Reynolds Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church, of which he was a member, or American Heart Association. He had been employed at Volck-man Furniture Co.

and Wilken's Grocery Store, both of Morrison. He had been a farmer. Mr. Swanson married Elizabeth Montgomery in 1922 in Morrison. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Eleanor Larson, Morrison; sons, LeRoy, Morrison; Howard, Fulton; Leslie, Cheyenne, and Donald, Shannon; 20 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Art teacher Paul R. Maurer, 52 Elsewhere Delores Foust TOPEKA, Kansas Delores D. Foust, 50, Tokepa, formerly of Davenport, died Friday at SL Francis Medical Center, Topeka. Arrangements are pending at Hoover Memorial Chapel Monmouth, HI Delores Egger married Richard Foust in 1955 in Davenport. Survivors include a daughter, Lori Foust, at home; sons, David, Davenport; Douglas, Monmouth; and Steven, at home; three grandchildren; her father and stepmother, Charles and Margaret Egger, Davenport; sisters, Carolyn Probi-zanski, California; and Bonnie Davison and Judy Huff, both of Davenport; and brothers, Charles Egger, La Jolla, Kenneth Egger, Monmouth; and Robert Egger, Bettendorf.

William Lemburg STOCKTON, Calif. Memorial services for William Lemburg were Feb. 28 at Concord United Methodist Church, Concord. Inurnment will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Rocha's Funeral Home, Lodi, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, 360 N. Michigan Ave, Chicago, 60601. Mr. Lemburg died Feb. 19 in Stockton.

He retired from the former Bendix Corp, Davenport. Before that he was an accountant and secretary at the Scott County Courthouse and the Davenport school district. William Lemburg married Naomi Eberle. She preceded him in death. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa, AF AM, Davenport Lodge No.

37 and Mohassen Grotto. Mr. Lemburg graduated from Brown's Business College, Davenport. Survivors include daughters, Dori Jarvis, San Rafeal and Zelda Travis, Concord; a son, Fredric, Stockton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Herman and Raymond, both of Davenport. King, 59, of 1215 44th Ave, Rock Island, will be 10 a.m. Monday at South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in White Rock Cemetery, Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Kiwanis Club seeks gifts The Davenport Kiwanis needs help in gathering items for its spring charity garage sale, May 9-10, at the National Guard Armory, Davenport. The club needs household fur-; nishings, refrigerators, stoves, office' and yard equipment, clothing and; other saleable items.

All donated items are tax deductible. For storage information, call Dr. David Iglehart at 355-0982. Last year the garage sale raised' $6,500, most of which went to youth programs in the community. He was employed as an electrical foreman at Chrome Engine Silvis, and had been employed for 37 years at Rock Island Railroad, Silvis Shops. Mr. Birlew was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of East End Club, Moline, and ROC Club, Silvis. Survivors include a daughter, Diana Birlew, East Moline, and a sister, Mrs.

Marion (Hazel) Long, Washington, Ind. Buffalo Gregor Sindt Services for Gregor J. Sindt, 81, a resident of Sunshine Haven, Buffalo, will be 1 p.m. Monday at WeertsHill Fredericks Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in Blue Grass Cemetery.

Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Sindt died Friday at the home. He retired in 1969 from Ralston-Purina Co, Davenport.

Mr. Sindt married Mary Hake in 1934 in Wapello, Iowa. She died in 1977. Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Fred (Etta) Helling, Rapids City; Mrs.

Carl (Shirley) Gilley, Denver; Patsy Simpson, Bettendorf; and Mrs. Harvey (Judy) Daily, Blue Grass; a son, Marvin, Bremerton, 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brothers, Albert, Montpelier, Iowa, and Bruno. Myers 53, Elkhorn, Neb, formerly of Moline and Ge-neseo, I1L, died Thursday at Bergen Mercy HospitaL Omaha, Neb. Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Sunday at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Sabula. Ellen Yappen married Albert Mangier Sr. in 1921 in Clinton. He died in 1940. She was a member of the church; American Legion Auxiliary Mississippi Unit 74, Sabula; World War II Veterans Organization; Senior Citizens Club; and Rebekah Lodge.

She was the 1985 Sabula Ses-quicentennial queen. Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Apama) Paddock and Mrs. Robert (Isabelle) Brundage, both of Sabula; Mrs. James (Mary) Sandholdt, Oskaloosa; and Mrs.

Wesley (Lucille) James, Bloomington, sons, Charles, Lloyd and Albert, all of Sabula, and Wayne, Clinton; 33 grandchildren; 56 greatgrandchildren; four great-greatgrandchildren; half sisters, Christina Daehler, Maquoketa, and Edna Tracy, Baldwin; and a half brother, Clifton Yappen, Andrew. Lilah Hunter ERIE, I1L Lilah A. Hunter, 67, of Erie died Thursday at her home. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Gibson-Reedy Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Erie Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. She had been employed at Whiteside County Nursing Home, Morrison, and Florence's Cafe and Rose's Dry Goods, both of Erie. Lilah Brown married Robert Hunter in 1938 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Bobbie Kay Dillion, Erie; Juanita Kuykendall Fenton; and Sharon Parten, Morrison; sons, Robert Erie, and James, Rock Island; 22 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Herman Licht LOWDEN, Iowa Herman Licht, 93, of Lowden died Friday at West Wing Place, DeWitt. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence, and 9:30 a.m. to service time Monday at the church. He retired from farming. Mr.

Licht married Ella Mensing in 1956 in Davenport. She died in 1985. He was a member of the church. Survivors include sisters, Alvina Schmidt and Amanda Engei and a brother, Albert, all of Lowden. Mabel Fletcher MUSCATINE, Iowa Mabel A.

Fletcher, 90, of Muscatine died Thursday at her home. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Vistiation is 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Order of Eastern Star. She retired as a bookkeeper at Universal Crushed Shell Products. Mabel Appel married Herschel Fletcher in 1938 in Davenport.

He died in 1965. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and White Shrine; former member of Julia Elizabeth Home Board; and a 50-year member of Electa Chapter 32 OES, all of Muscatine. Survivors include a stepson, Dean Fletcher, Muscatine; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Eva White MUSCATINE, Iowa Eva E. White, 72, of Muscatine died Friday at Muscatine General HospitaL Services will be 1:30 p.m.

Eva Savage married Arthur Dusenberry in 1933 in Muscatine. He preceded her in death. She married Roscoe White in 1969 in Muscatine. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Justus, Muscatine; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ida LaRue, Muscatine; and a brother, Robert Savage of Arizona.

Cecil Wilson Cecil L. Wilson, 61, of 804 Oak-lawn East Moline, died Friday at Illini HospitaL Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at VanHoe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens.

Wilson married Mattie Archer in 1944 in Birta, Ark. He later married Lora. She died in 1970. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1304, East Moline. Survivors include sons, Delbert, Moline; Dannie, East Moline; Larry, Colona, III; and Tom, Green Rock; six grandchildren; sisters, Estine Higgenbotham, Fort Smith, and Ernestine Slater, Waldron, and a brother, Clyde, Lawton, Okla.

to speak Dennis Dake, a former art teacher in the Davenport school district ai now a member of the Iowa State University art faculty, will be giving a public lecture at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the West High School Auditorium. Dake has been serving in a leadership role for the National Visual Literacy Association, an organization of professionals from the fields of art, media and psyschology. Area Deaths Walter Foor MUSCATINE, Iowa Walter W. Foor, 54, former Muscatine policeman, died Thursday at Veteran's Administration Hospital, Iowa City.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Riley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is after 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial has been established. He retired in 1977 from the Muscatine police force. Mr. Foor married Joan Miller in 1951 in Lone Tree. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of Iowa State Policemen's Association and Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers.
