(AP) A grain elevator exploded Monday, seriously burning four workers and forcing the evacuation of businesses and homes within three blocks for fear of further blasts. "It sounded like a sonic boom at first. And you heard one little small explosion then two big ones," said employee Jim Gubitz, who fled the Ralston Purina Co. elevator uninjured. A spark probably ignited accumulated grain dust in an unloading area, said fire department Capt.

Ron Blackwell. Damage estimates and a final determination of the cause of the blast were pending, he said. Blackwell said the evacuation was ordered because grain elevator explosions sometimes are followed by secondary explosions. Officials had no estimate of the number of people or structures evacuated. The evacuees were allowed to return about three hours after the explosions.

Suspected tea tested WASHINGTON (AP) The Food and Drug Administration said Monday it is testing all black tea imported from Sri Lanka for possible cyanide contamination because of threats by terrorists in that country to poison exports. The agency, in an internal advisory to its regional offices, said the detention order for tea imports was issued after the State Department advised the FDA that nationalist terrorists in Sri Lanka threatened to disrupt the economy by poisoning export shipments. However, FDA press officer William Grigg said no poisoned tea has been found, all incoming tea is being checked and all tea now on the shelves appears to be safe. "The situation as far as we're concerned is completely under control," Grigg said. He said tea on U.S.

store shelves was packaged at least two months ago, before the threat arose, and "everything else is now under hold." White supremacist sentenced COLUMBIA, Mo.
