Henderson of Davenport introduced his friend from Winnetka, during the round of parties preceding Susan wedding last Saturday.

The registered surprise was due to the fact that the visitor's name is also William J. Henderson. Both men have junior W. Js and Winnetka Bill Jr. married a girl attending Dennison University where Davenport Bill Jr.

will be a senior this year. The coincidences continue. The two Hendersons first met at a ranch in Arizona 10 years ago unaware that the Clem Werners of Davenport were mutual friends. Jane Werner and Mary Henderson of Winnetka were childhood friends in Canajoharie, N.Y. and the former was a bridesmaid for the latter.

As an add to the coincidences: Clem Werner and Winne-taka Henderson meet while students at Northwestern which is where Mary (who had transferred to the university from Sweet Briar) met her husband to-be. Have you got all of that figured out? THOUGH their visit in Davenport was brief, old friends of Maj. and Mrs. Joseph A. Bacci were delighted to catch up with the traveling pair.

When she was Thea Marquardt, Mrs. Bacci was a teacher at Davenport High School for many years. Joseph is with the Corps of Engineers and work has taken them all over the world, most recently 14 months in Saudi, Arabia. He will now be resident engineer at Fort Dix, N.J., and for the first time In their married lives will have a home of their own. They have purchased a house in" Georgetown.

BARGAINS are sometimes found in unexpected places. One antique buff found, in a Davenport antique shop, an original Dixieland Jazz band record on the Gannett label. The price was 75 cents and he has since learned that it may bring $15 on the market. IT'S an old cliche but still true indeed it is a small world. Miss Lenora Purdy was on a world wide tour this summer when she unexpectedly met other Davenport treachers on a floating restaurant in Hong Kong.

Miss Marian Bates, Miss Opal Christie and Miss Euenice Dolmage had stopped there while on a trip that included Anchorage, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, Bangkok, Taiwan, and finally, the Hawaiian Islands. Miss Bates teaches typing at J. B. Young. Miss Christie is a speech therapist for the Davenport Public School system and Miss Dolmage is at Hayes School.

Miss Purdy, who teaches civics and history at J. B. Young, likes to include colored slides taken on trips in her classroom work. She returned from this one with 25 rolls of' film. Her tour, sponsored by the National Education Association, included Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Nepal, Persia, Turkey, India, Greece and Japan.

This was her fourth trip abroad in five years and she returns this time saying as she has after each trip, "One is certainly glad that she is an U.S. citizen." SOME weeks ago in this column it was reported that a former Iowan, now in a rest home in Oklahoma, wanted to hear from those of us out here. The response totaled 57 post cards and many letters addressed to Mrs. Angelo Furrow, formerly of DeWitt and whose maiden name was Van Horn. One was from relatives in Delmar who had lost track of her.
