FASHION TO EDUCATE Show Has Midas Touch By MADDY OCHELTREE Society Editor r. -i 1 1 ft- 9 i 4 i V--, 4. lit I I "I should have married a millionaire," muttered one matron as she, with over 400 other women, watched the Panhellenic style show at Hotel Blackhauk Friday after: noon. Fashions were glittery, pretty, fun and actually all weren't priced beyond everyone's bank account. No chairman really ever relaxes and Mrs.

C. D. Salter Jr. was no exception. The preceding 24 hours had been hectic ones for her witfi an Unexpected emergency occurring at home the night before.

Her husband had some sort of allergy reaction and was rushed to the intensive care unit at Mercy Hospital. GIVING her moral support was her co-chairman. Mrs. George Walters as non-reser-vationists arrived at the 11th hour and somehow tables and chairs miraculously appeared. Patrons were fashion curious and eager to support the Tri-City Panhellenic's Scholarship Loan program to which proceeds will go.

Interest free, it's open to any girl desiring college, university or nursing school training. Once the luncheon tables were cleared the show began with Miss Iowa, Jeanne Fro-manek, drifting down the runway in a heavenly blue chiffon gown with beaded bodice. Models twirled beside a softly lighted fountain and clusters of azaelas. There was the midas touch during one seg-m filled with sparkling stockings, sequined gowns and glittery brocades. Then drifting chiffons, purple over red silk: pale pink over pink; long, ice cream colored wool evening coats jeweled buttons securing little half belts in back.

THE STATUS fur -chinchilla banded banker's grey suits and appeared again as a stole over a grey silk gown. Culottes swept to the floor and up above the knees for the young, young look. Prettiest was the full white cotton one topped with crocheted Irish lace blouse and belted wide. Perhaps luncheoners departed feeling a little dowdy. But one could tell, the wheels were spinning and there would be some shopping accomplished today.

Neb. il'PI -Use lamps with open-topped shades for studying, not the bullet lights 0 gooseneck lamps, advises the University of Nebraska Extension Service. Make sure the lower edge of the shade is eye level and wide enough across the bottom to give a wide spread of light, it adds. Study lights should give a high level of well-diffused light over the entire area. They must also throw some light upward, to prevent sharp differences between the lighting on the desk and its surroundings.
