MARENGO, Ia Aug. 3. (Special) Former Mayor M. Furge-son, in business here for 35 years, has sold the stock and equipment of his funeral home to Ira L. Foster of Ft Dodge.

Mr Foster has also purchased similar equipment belonging to Ivan Cummings and expects to enter the undertaking business here as soon as a suitable location eon be found. Mr Furgeson retains a farm near Malcolm which is operated by his son, Stanley. Revise Assessment Figure About $2,500 more tax income will be available for Iowa county's general and poor funds as the result of revisions made by the state board of assessment and review in land tax figures. Formerly 25.87 per cent below previous assessments, the figures are now approximately only 20 per cent reduced. This does not affect the budget approved by supervisors Tuesday, there being no increase in their askings.

Grandson Dead Mrs E. Attig left last night for Jacksonville, 111., to attend the funeral there today of Harvey Mather, her 14-year-old grandson who died Tuesday after a long illness. She was accompanied by Mrs Lloyd Attig. The boy was born In Marengo and baptised at the age of six weeks in the Methodist church. He was affiliated with the Juveniles of Royal Neighbors of America here.

Immediate survivors were the parents, Mr and Mrs Fred E. Mather, and a brother, Benjamin. Ladora Bank Close Ladora, neighbor of Marengo SHEFFIELD, Aug. 3. (Special) Peter Madsen is 85 years old today, and is celebrating by having three of his oldest Danish friends, H.

P. Christiansen, 81, Charles Nelsen, 80, and John Christiansen, 72, to spend the afternoon with him at his home just east of town. There are only two Danish residents now living in Sheffield who are older than Mr Madsen, John Peterson, 89, and Rasmus Knud-sen, 87. August is a real birthday month for Mr Madsen and his grandchildren. Two of them were born on his birthday, Miss Ruth Madsen, daughter of Mr and Mrs Helvig Madsen of Philadelphia, who is 19 years old today and Holger Madsen, the son of the Carl Madsens of Askov, Minn.

Two other grandchildren born in August are Miss Florence Kellar, daughter of Mr and Mrs Olaf Kellar of Askov, who observed her 20th birthday Aug. 2, and Miss Louise Madsen, the older daughter of the Helvig Madsens, who will have a birthday Aug. 12. Mr Madsen has lived here continuously for 59 years since he came to the United States from Lolland, Denmark, as a young man. Three years ago on Feb.

14, he and Mrs Madsen, who was 78 last March, observed their golden wedding. Mr Madsen Is now retired and living quietly at his home here, while his youngest son, A. H. Madsen, manages the work of their nursery. He has always had a reputation for raising the finest strawberries in this section and many of his pickers, now grown to manhood, recall how often he told them to "fill the quarts full and pick only the ripest and best of the fruit." Eric Lindell died March 23 of this year. Forsberg Rites Funeral services for Mrs Emma Louise Forsberg who died Tuesday afternoon were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev.

A. S. Hamilton of the Cambridge Lutheran church, in charge. Pallbearers were Ed Hultgren, Oscar Boberg, Alvin Norell, Ernest Scott, Ray Falloon and George Hier. Burial took place beside her husband in Rosedale cemetery.

File Van Laeken Will On the petition of the widow, Mrs Amelia Van Laeken of Anna-wan, the will of Hypolitus Van Laeken was filed yesterday in probate court for hearing. The estate is estimated at $1,600 and is left to the widow. The will also appoints Mrs Van Laeken as the executrix of the will. The will was drawn on May 16, 1925, at Geneseo with Peter Ghuys and Louise Ghuys as witnesses. Hypolitus Van Laeken died in Annawan, June 25, 1933.

Returned to Bureau Dale Pritchard of Atkinson was turned over to Bureau county officials this week on charges of wife abandonment and non-support. He was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Charles Nash. Granted Separate Maintenance Mrs Jennie Lewis of Geneseo was granted a separate maintenance yesterday by Judge L. E. Telleen in circuit court and given the custody of the two children.

She was awarded $10 weekly support from her husband. John Secrest and Mrs Virgil Se Worth of Centerville. Mr and Mrs Louise Wecker, Geneseo Freight Report Reflects Business Uptrend GENESEO, Aug. 3. (Special) Geneseo freight reports continue to show the effect of a rapid improvement In business conditions in general, with totals for the year surging far in the lead of those at the close of July business in 1932.

A total of 698 carloads of freight have been forwarded from the local yards of the Rock Island Lines Bince Jan. 1, 1933, while the number was but 271 through July a year ago. The report of freight received so far this year also shows a favorable reaction to Improving conditions, a total of 612 carloads being reported since the first of the present year, compared with 440 through July, 1932. The most noticeable gain in the report of freight forwarded is in the movement of grains, which has almost broken long standing records. Sixty-eight cars of wheat, corn and oats were shipped out of Geneseo during July, compared with three cars of wheat In July, 1932.

The movement of hogs has also been strong, 67 cars having been forwarded last month, and of this number 52 were double-deck cars, equivalent to 104 single-deck carloads. The report of freight forwarded follows, listing first the commodity, second the number of cars in July this year and finally the number for the same month a year ago: wheat, 11, 3: corn, 32. oats, 25 Of "In" grain. ed and ffed. 9.
