Yes Our out-of-town friends know we always expect them right after Christmas, to do their mid-winter buying. They know, too, there is not a section in the entire store that does not offer unusual inducements, and where every dollar does heroic duty and where a five dollar bill is often worth twice its face value. The throngs of these first few days of the New Year are most pleasing and we take it to be an index of the year now before us. Our invoicing is deferred till Feb.

19, it has been officially announced by the motor speedway. Tlfe greatest crowd in the history of the cause is expected, due to the-anticipated conflict between foreign and American drivers, whetted by the victory of Goux, a in the last event Seating accommodations have been increased to 60,000, with the addition of two new grand stands, one on the south, turn, composed entirely of boxes, and one on the west main stretch, at popular prices. Hotel and transportation facilities have also been bettered, so that the difficulties of former years will be largely absent, it is thought. The entire city is preparing for the visitors. liurman to Drive New Car A prospective entry was gained and lost by the speedway today through the announcement that Bob Burman, the world's speed king, had contracted with Horace Thomson, the Battle Creek, millionaire, to build and drive his car, known as Anel, and In addition to race another machine of the same design, for which the driver is yet to be selected.

Both fliers will probably be called "Burman Centipedes," because they have sixteen valves. Barman's idea is that American designers and mechanics can produce a car this side of the water equally as fast as anything put up abroad. Building and handling his own chine, he thinks few will be able to pass him. An interesting set-to is expected when ho and the foreigners hook up in the long grind. Premier Has Same Idea An Indianapolis firm, the Premier seems to be imbued with the same ideas as Burman.

Field representatives of this organization, headed by C. Lake, of Kansas City, recently pooled themselves together to back a team in the next race, provided the consent of H. O. Smith, president of the concern, who has always been opposed to racing, could be gained. An attempt is being made to show Smith the error of his ways, as it is thought the Premier, with its new motor, a novel design, has an excellent chance to win.

Another local concern recently connected with the 500 mile event is the Lyons-Atlas a Knight licensed concern. This firm, it is reported, plans a team entry, calculated -to demonstrate consistency of running rather than extreme speed. A more satisfactory testing ground than the speedway, on May 30, would be hard to find. "They seem so like live things," said a woman, stroking the animal head on the fur set she had chosen. The feminine world has gone wild over furs. The mild weather has brought down the prices, so that many women are now indulging their desires, who had not intended buying a new set this winter. A WISE INVESTMENT, as furs are so extremely fashionable, that colder weather is certain to send the prices away back, soaring upward and next season you'll surely pay double what you need to pay now at McCABE'S.

Strange about fashion. Fashionable women are wearing furs more than ever, but others who were driven to economy, have not yet felt the "pinch of cold" and forced to buy. Conditions are likely to change quickly and we seriously advise that you make an early inspection of the furs which we are offering so much below their values.
