This gala Saturday evening event was held in the Citizens State Bank Social Room on August 31. Approximately thirty-five ladies watched as Jean opened her lovely gifts-each holding a special sentimental value as well as usefulness. Many helpful hints and wise sayings were passed about throughout the evening.

Mrs. Jim Fetters and Miss Lori Klinger, sisters of the honored guest assisted by listing the gifts and filling the Bridal dress of a bridedoll with ribbons. Rosie Abel attended the guest book. of San Antonio, Texas announces the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth and approaching marriage to Mr. Roderick F. Coffin II of Austin, Texas, son of Roderick F. Coffin I and the late June Gibbs Coffin. The bride elect is a graduate of The University of Texas in Austin and her fiance is a graduate of Texas Christian University of Fort Worth.

Roderick is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Gibbs of Corydon. An October 12 wedding is planned.

Roy Kirchner celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary Sunday, August 25th, at their home in Corydon. 76 guests attended the reception which was hosted by their children, Mrs. Joyce Woollis and husband, Lyle, and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kirchner of Keo-sauqua, another daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Chris Richards of Verona, Wisconsin were unable to attend.

Dick Rector, Allerton, friend of the bridegroom, was best man. He was attired identically to the bridegroom and wore a pink ruffled shirt with a pink carnation boutonniere. Angela Warrick, Bettendorf, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.

She wore a floor length gown of pink double-knit with overlay of white eyelet and a wide ruffle at the hemline, and carried a brown wicker basket of pink rose petals. Greg Alley, Allerton, nephew of the bridegroom was ring bearer. He carried a heart shaped pillow of ivory satin trimmed with lace. Rita Nessen, Corydon, friend of the bride, presided at the guest book table. Deanne Houston, Rebecca Hart, and Cheryl Black were in charge of the gifts.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship room for all the guests. The reception table was beautifully decorated in pink and ivory. The table had a pink satin cloth with lace overlay. The cake was three tiers decorated by pink garland border, drape string work, and pink roses with green leaves. It was topped by bride and bridegroom massed against a graceful seed-pearl heart.

Pink punch, pastel mints, and nuts were also served. The cake was served by Mrs. Eugene Smith, Russell, aunt of the bride. Mrs. Max Warrick, Bettendorf, aunt of the bride, dipped the punch.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Smith chose a brown and white floor length gown and Mrs. Alley, mother of the bridegroom, chose an ivory gown. Both wore pink carnation corsages. After a short wedding trip to South Dakota, the couple are residing at Allerton in a new mobile home.

Three showers and a tea were given in honor of the bride and bridegroom. The Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa was the setting for the wedding of Dixie Ann Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Smith, Promise City to Jerry Lynn Alley, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Carol Alley, Allerton on Sunday, July 28, 1974. Pastor M.R. Hinds officiated the double ring ceremony at 4:00 p.m. The sanctuary of the church was decorated with pedestal baskets of pink gladiolas and white bows.

Mrs. Jessie Hanscom, Nashua was organist. "The Lord's Prayer" was sung as the couple knelt at the altar. The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a floor length gown of Ivory Organza and Guipure lace.

The molded bodice had a lace trimmed neckline and short sleeves. Three dimensional organza flowers decorated the front and back of the bodice. The front skirt fell in slim A-line and was encircled with lace at the hem-line. Her skirt was accented with organza flowers in scatter pattern. The back skirt swept into a circular train that billowed to chapel length.

Her fingertip Mantilla veil of imported illusion fell softly over her gown and crested a face framing headdress crowned with baby's breath. She carried a lace handkerchief of her grandmother's and a nosegay of pink roses, baby's breath, surrounded by green fern with flowing ribbons of pink and ivory. The bride carried out the tradition of something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a penny in her shoe. Penny Darrah, Corydon, ft of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a pink and white empire styled gown with matching jacket.

Her white, lace, picture hat was accented with a pink satin ribbon and bow. She carried a single long-stemmed pink rose with fern and white ribbon. The bridegroom wore a chocolate brown tuxedo with brown velvet lapels, ivory Be IN FULL SWING for School!
