Afternoon callers in the Street home were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Loney and family, Mr.

and Mrs. Raedean Street and Kevin of Humeston, Jim Detler and Steve Hart. Mrs. Hollie Lewis received word from Mrs. Rigby saying Mr.

Rig-by had the flu but has recovered also he is able to get around very well with the help of a walker and hopes to be released from the rest home March 6, at which time they will return to their home in Cambria. Mrs. Marvin Perkins who underwent major surgery in the Wayne Co. Hospital was able to return to her home Tuesday and is getting along very well. She goes toOttum-wa five days a week for x-ray treatments which is routine procedure after her type of surgery.

Mr. and Mrs. Red Perkins and family visited Sunday afternoon in the parental Marvin Perkins home. Charles Elmore of Canesville, Mo. visited his daughter, Mrs.

Marvin Perkins Wednesday. Mrs. Jack Snyder took the Cambria B.Y.F. group to the Baptist Church in Chariton Sunday afternoon for an Association meeting. Mr.

and Mrs. Dwight Brown were Thursday dinner guests in the home of his mother Mrs. Mary Brown in Des Moines. Joan and Linda Scales spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Joe Scales. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mc Kinney and Mr. and Mrs.

David Mc Kinney and baby of Knoxville were Sunday supper guests in the home of their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Abel. Mr. and Mrs.

Joe Scales and Joan were Sunday dinner guests in the parental Jess Abel home. The Friendly Circle Club will meet with Janet Sellers Thursday, February 15. Grace Fraizer will be co-hostess. Seymour By Delpha Hockett Mrs. M.

H. Jolinston was hostess to Chapter D.M., PEO, Monday afternoon. Mrs. R. L.

Scott presided over the business meeting. Mrs. G. W. Marston gave a very interesting talk on Wedgwood, and Mary Burchett reported on the educational fund.

Refreshments in the Valentine theme were served. Fred Hickerson fell while at work Friday trimming trees and was taken to the Wayne County Hospital suffering a broken hip. Hickerson works for the city. Vera Henderson remains a County Hospital to see Johnston's brother, who is seriously 111. Mr.

and Mrs. Loy. McMurry and daughter Jan entertained at a dinner Sunday honoring Mrs. McMurry's son, S'SgU Larry Sager, who recently returned from a tour of duty In Vietnam. Those attending were a4d Mrs.

Elza Sager and family of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Sager and family of Trenton, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Sager of Blue Springs, Mo.

Afternoon callers were Mrs. Neva Robinson and Mrs. Margaret Dar-rah of Corydon. Sager's wife was ill with the flu and, was not able to attend. Mr.

and Mrs. Richard Mincks went to Des Moines; Saturday to get their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Oouchman, who have been in Germany for the past 17 months. Mrs.

Cpuchman left from Munich, Germany, February 1, 1:30 p.m., stopping in London, New York, and arrived at Des Moines February 1, 9:30 a.m. Mr. Couwnman came by military flight. He left Frankfort, Germany, January 31, went to Fort Dix, N.J., then to; Philadelphia, and to Chicago on to Des Moines to join his -wife 'on Saturday. Couchman, -who was with the third Battalion, 19th infantry, and worked as a battalion mail clerk, was discharged after serving two years.

i Attending funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Mitten Sunday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs 1 James Morrison of Ft. Worth, Texas; Mr. and Mrs.

Donovan Keeton, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Elner Larson, Cedar Falls; Mr. and i Mrs. Hugo Johnson, Centerville; Mr.

and Mrs. Glen Kimsey, O-sceola; Mr. and Harry Garrett, Corydon. Mrs. Flora McMurry spent the weekend with Mr.

and Mrs. Earnie McMurry in Mr. and Mrs. Terry Sales of Des Moines spent Saturday night and Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Wyllard Sales. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sales and sons joined the' family for Sunday dinner. Robert Merritt, who recently returned from duty in Vietnam, called in the Sales home Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Les Shepherd will leave Thursday for LaHabra, for a visit with their son Jim and family. Clare Holbrook Is New Marshal Bert Voyce, with the approval of the city council, appointed Clare Holbrook -as Seymour town marshal. News Harold Holder and Mr.

and Mrs. Gerald Bright of Corydon. The occassion honored the birthday of Hazel. The Baptist Missionary met Friday with Minnie Leeper. Thirteen members answered roll call with a verse from Romans.

Mrs. Leeper gave a program, 'The ABC's of the At the close of the meeting dessert and coffee were served. Fifteen members of the H.P.C. Club were present February 1 for the regular meeting in the home of Florence Swanson. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Woollis and Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Woollis and Thelma Lou visited from Monday until Thursday in the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Frank Beamer in Hardy, Ark. Mrs. Beamer is Ross' sister. Hollie Lewis and Earl Davis attended an Angus Sale in Palaska Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Starns and Mrs. Mary Palmer were Sunday dinner guests in the Merrill Woollis home. Mr.

and Mrs. D. A. Vinson visited Sunday in the Charley Orner home near Davis City. On their way home they stopped and visited their son, Guy Vinson, and family of Leon.

Dorothy Newell Friday afternoon. AUerton MRS. GLADYS DUSKIN Mrs. Florence Lammers will be hostess to the American Auxiliary in her home Wednesday, February 13. Plans will be made for the joint County meeting of the Legion and Auxiliary to be held in Allerton on March 11.

Joan Bryan will be program leader. Mrs Geannie Radcliff returned home Monday evening from the Lucs County Memorial Hospital in Chariton, where she submitted to surgery a week ago. Mrs. Betty McDaniel and daughter Kay spent the weekend with their daughter and sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs.

Terry Moore and Terri at O'Fallon, Mo. Sp5 Lloyd Dean Housely arrived home Thursday monring from Vietnam where he had completed his oversea assignment. He will have a month leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Housley, before reporting for 6 months at Ft.

Campbell, Ky. Mr. and Mrs. S. A.

Barker of Corydon were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Gibbs. Mr. and Mrs.

Dail Whiteley, Cindy and Randy of Corydon were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mace. CORRECTION Chapter EU, P.E.O. will meet at the home of Elma Keho with Linda Bryan assisting for a Valentine auction.

Mrs. Lizzie Shriver spent Thursday and Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Liggett in Des Moines. The Womens Society of Christian Service met Friday with Edna Johnston, assisted by Icy Prince.

There were fourteen present. Blanche Duncan gave the devotions from Luke 14. Also Youth--The churches hope for change. Refreshments of Valentine dessert and coffee were served during the social hour. Rev.

and Mrs. Russell Vander-hoef left Saturday, January 27, for Spring Lake Heights, N. J. to attend funeral services for Rev. Vanderhoefs father on Tuesday.

They returned home Friday, February 2. In the absence of Rev. Vander-hoef, the Sunday services at the Methodist Church were conducted by Virgil Starry of Corydon, who in County Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Dan Duggins, Boy Scout Executive with Conestoga Wagon District, brought the message entitled 'Lost and Mr.

and Mrs. Burdell Roberts and daughters of Menlo spent Sunday in the Murl Henderson home. Rex Bryant and son Reb of Os-kaloosa spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Harry Merrick and Mr. Merrick.

Vernon, Mo. her room is 63 Bed 1, Administration Building. Sunday guests of Mrs. Eva Beam and Hazel were Mr. and Mrs.

Raymond Callison, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wilson and son Harold of Russell; Mr. and Mrs. WsVe the Wayne County Hospital, where she had been hsopitalized after being found in her home unconscious several weeks ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde McVey, Nicky and Julie went to Des Moines last Saturday and visited with her sister, Mrs. Elmer Riggle, and family. In the afternoon the ladies visited their sister, Mrs.

Wilbur Keller in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Cadwell, Mr. and Mrs.

Leslie Tuttle, Mrs. Maude Harrell all of Promise City; Ernie Baker of Davenport and Mrs. Betty Perkins Barbara and Beverly visited last Satruday in the Dewey Smith home. Mr. and Mrs.

Albert Davison visited last Thursday and Friday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Huber Davis in Des Moines. Mrs. Daisy Surbaugh spent a few days last week with her sister, Mrs.

Ethel Wollis of Des Moines. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Joy visited in the W. L.

Forster home in Woodburn. Mrs. Dorothy Carson spent last weekend with her daughter, Mrs. Dwaine Stewart and family in Chariton. Mr.

and Mrs. Marvin Pool of Cedar Rapids spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pool and Randy. Mrs.

Rosie Pool was a dinner guest on Sunday. Ray Coffey, who attends college in Ames, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Maxine Coffey and sons. Mr. and Mrs.

Homer Coffey moved last week to the home they recently purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. Doze. Patricia Williams daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Vern Williams and Ronald Rickert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rickert were married Saturday night at the LeRoy Presbyterian Church. Lee Smith of Davenport returned to his home last Tuesday after undergoing surgery at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

Ha had been in the hospital the past three weeks. Lee's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Smith of this community. Mrs.

Clyde McVey received word that her sister, Mrs. Wilbur Keller of Des Moines, is a patient in the Des Moines General Hospital, where she went for tests and treatment. Fred Tener, uncle of Mrs. Mel-ba Moon of this community, was released last week from the Des Moines General Hospital where he had been a patient the past three weeks. He was taken to his home at the Rest Haven in Chariton.

Richard Martin of Leon is hospitalized at the Decatur County Hospital with lead poisoning. Candi is staying with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. DelbertVandenburg, of this community, while Mrs. Martin is with her husband.

Jerry Coffey, 16, son of Mrs. Maxine Coffey, was taken Dy Hutchinson Ambulance Friday night to the Wayne County Hospital. After being injured in the basketball game played here against Melcher-Dallas. He remained overnight and was released the next morning. She returned home Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Mcintosh of Des Moines visited Sunday afternoon in the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Ellis Beavers and Bob Mcintosh. Mrs. Macel Rollins and Gayle spent Thursday and Friday with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Arleen Barnett and Ricky at Elk-horn, Neb.

Ricky accompanied them home and spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Rollins. Mr. and Mrs.

Junior Mc Elfish and Roy spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mcintosh and Tammy of Council Bluffs. Dr. and Mrs.

Lester Slayton, of Lineville attended the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association Convention recently. It was held at the Tan-Tara resort on the Lake of the Ozarks. Mrs. Slayton came home the proud owner of the women's bowling trophy. Mr.

and Mrs. Everett McCarty and Norman McCarty of Davenport spent the weekend in Lineville and Corydon visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Max Rockhold spent the weekend in Kansas City visiting in the homes of Mr.

and Mrs. John Church and baby and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Shockey and family. Charles Rockhold underwent major surgery Monday morning at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon.

Mrs. Judy Landrum of Mitchell-ville and Miss Donna Hullinger of Iowa City spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merval Hullinger. Miss Gayle Rollins spent the past week with her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Everett Rollins, on a semester break from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. John Vinzant and Mr.

and Mrs. Lester Slayton of Mercer spent Sunday afternoon at the home of Dr. Lester Slayton Jr. and family. Miss Kay Bright of Columbia, and Lynn Scheller of Mary-ville, spent the past week at the Dr.

Slayton home in Lineville. They were enjoying a semester break from college classes. Dr. Lester Slayton Jr. received a birthday telephone call from Mrs.

Karla Taylor from Anita, Sunday evening. Millerton By Emmett Moore Mrs. Earnie Brandon, Mrs. Pur ley DeVore, and Mrs. Ellis Ball were shopping in Des Moines Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs Emmett Moore visited Saturday afternoon inPella in the home of Lynn Moore and family. Robert Denton returned home last week from Des Moines, where he had been in Methodist Hospital for surgery. He is improving satisfactorily. Mrs.

Dean Brewer and Connie and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Williams and Lori of Chariton attended a surprise party in the Donald Sell home at Unionville, Mo. The occasion was Mr. and Mrs.

Sell's 25th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Harris also attended. A cooperative supper was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Junior Muilenburg received a letter from their son Terry Monday. He had stopped in Okinawa for a few days until activity lets up so they can land at the Vietnam airport. Mr.

Jennie Hatfield went to Hamilton, Friday where they attended funeral services for their cousin, Roy Toon, age 65, who passed away at his home Wednesday following a lingering illness. Services were held at the Bram Funeral Home, with burial in the Hamilton Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Riddle of Raymond, S.D., were overnight guests Wednesday of Mr.

and Mrs. Ellis Beavers. They were en-route to Florida. Mr. and Mrs.

Guy Williby of Chariton were Sunday dinner guests of Ethel Myers. Mr. and Mrs. Colan Green of Promise City were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs.

Lyle Duncan. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Drake and Terri Sue, Mrs. Ethel Myers, and Mrs.

Blanche Vinzant visited Mrs. Elsie Drake at the Mercer County rest home Sunday afternoon. They also visited Mrs. Clara Tetereck who is a patient at the home. Mrs.

Tetereck will have the honor of observing her 100th birthday March 23. Mrs. Drake is reported to be making a satisfactory recovery at this time. Mrs. Madge Newlin of Mercer visited Wednesday in the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Ellis Beavers. Mr. and Mrs. J.

H. Rockhold, Mrs. Neva Barrett, and Mrs. Amanda Retherford were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mr. and Mrs.

Larry Retherford, Sherri and Mike, of Des Moines. Joe Mulvania suffered a heart attack Saturday evening and was taken by Greenlee Ambulance to the Decatur Couuiy Hospital in Leon. Mrs. Emily Wilson will be hostess to the Friendly Club.at her home Thursday, February 8, for an all day meeting. A surprise birthday party was held at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Verl Petty and family Saturday night in honor of Mr. Petty's birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs.

Lyle Petty, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Hellyer of Corydon, Mr. and Mrs. Creede Billy and Shellia Middelton, Mr.

and Mrs. Maurice Rockhold, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Hullinger, Brenda and Beverly, Mr. and Mrs.

Doyle Ellis and Mike, Mrs Margaret Logan and Bruce, Miss Kathy Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Duncan. An enjoyable evening was spent. Mr.

and Mrs. Arlo Perkins of Smithville, were weekend guests here Mr. and Mrs. Earl Acheson and family, Misses Evelyn Duncan and Gracie Hannam of Des Moines, Mrs. Emma Bright and Mrs.

Vena Gladfelder of Mercer were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Kate Duncan. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Duncan and son Jim returned to their home Davenport Monday night after spending the weekend with her parents Mr, and Mrs.

Ivan Edg- man. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Edgman visited Sunday in the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Harley Greer at Humeston. Mrs. Greer had just returned home from the Decatur County Hospital at Leon. Paul Johnson is recovering as well as can be expected since his return home from the Iowa City hospital. Mrs.

Kenneth Ramsey was a patient at the Axtell Hospital in Princeton a few days last week. Mrs. Grace Richman was a dinner guest in the home of her son, Allan, and family, January 28,. celebrating the birthday of their son, Gary, who was 13 years old. Little Fern Williams was honored at a birthday dinner last Sunday at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs.

Dean Williams and Sheri. Guests included her grandparents, Mr. and KirsGuy DeVore and Mrs. Irene Williams. Fern was nine years old.

Mr, and Mrs. Forrest Richard and Dell were hostesses to a dinner Sunday, January 28, at their home. Guests included their children Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bittick and family of Des Moines; Mr.

and Mrs. Don Richard and family, Humeston and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Richard. The occasion was the January birthdays of Mrs.

Don Richard and Mrs. Bittick. A birthday party was held Tuesday evening, January 30, at the Community Center here, honoring Vickie Guastivino, an exchange student at Mormon Trail High School. Miss Guastivino, lives in Santiago, Chili, and has been staying with the Charles Street family going to school at Mormon Trail. The party was given by the students at school.

Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Dexter observed their 66th Wedding Anniversary January 30.

Those calling on them during the day were Mrs. Mary Latimer, Mr. and Mrs. A. C.

Bretz. The couple received a beautiful bouquet of cut flowers from their daughters, Mrs. Betty Zych and family of Omaha and Mrs. Twyla Morrow and family of Council Bluffs. A dinner was held last Saturday at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Lawrence Kyner, celebrating their 59th anniversary. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Gardner, Mr.

and Mrs. Gerald Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Boyc Southard, Mr. and Mrs.

D. A. Johnson, George Garton and Roy Kyner all of Humeston and Mrs. Virginia Jancewicz of Colorado, Services for Kathryn were held Tuesday, January 30. at the Hutchinson Funeral Home.

D. W. Handlin, former Seymour resident, was hospitalized in Oak Park Hospital, Oak Park, 111., for treatment and observation. Dr. Handlin is 88 years old.
