(UP) All-out production--with neither riches nor ruin resulting should follow recent price legislation in the opinion ot two Iowa State college farm economists. Writing in the current Issue of the farm economist.

Robert Wilcox nd "Francis Kutish, said farmers may feel sure that prices will neither run wild nor drop sharply. At the same time, was announced thnt a short-lived mid-month price declino pulled tbe Iowa farm price index dowh two points to 176 on Sept. 15. The economists described the Index as "not true" because, prices of most farm products moved upward later in the month. The farm outlook as viewed by the college economists, follows: Hogs and overdue spring pig crop likely to ease live hog prices more in line with dressed pork price ceilings.

Lambs Prices likely to ease slightly for remaining pasture season, with downward pressure being exerted by heavier marketing in next few weeks. Strong demand will prevent sizeable decline. Cattle Little further change In stocker and feeder prices in next few months. Mistake to base bids on feeders on belief beef ceilings will be raised. Poultry Prices of most classes will continue steady for next few months, with no seasonal drop in prospect.

F.Rg prices no lower than those of Sept. 28-Oct. 2 can be expected this winter. Dairy Seasonal price adjustments to determine tbe price future for butter prices. If adjustments are to be made, a further increase in butterfat prices can be expected until February, PREDICTS NEW TWO VERI desirable sseepln room.

Mr. llendriks is cited in. Harry It O'Rrien's "Seven Steps to More Hoes" in nhieh he uses Mr. Hen-driks method in illustrating the seventh step. The article in part says, "John liendriks of Muscatine county, has made an outstanding record of high pork production by raising his pigs entirely on concrete floors.

Hut the kind of pig he has is a big part of the story. He calls it his 'crisscross breed. He has developed his own special type from a three-way cross. His hogs have a rather large frame upon which he can put big gains in a hurry." The seven steps which lead to greater pork production-according to the author are: (1) Not only equipment but all buildings used to house pigs and sows must be clean thruout. (2) Proper housing is all-important, and each sow needs her own individual hut at farrowing time.

(3) Clean pasture reduces parasite Infection, and shade, helps hogs make gains. H) Vaccination against cholera and other diseases can be given as soon as pigs are ready to wean. (Si Intelligent feeding is vital. Some farmers start pigs on grain when only seven to 10 days old. (6) Comfort promotes auick gains.

This means water, shade, clean, skin. An oiling pont kills vermin. The best care Is wasted on poor breeding stock. Crossbreeds are widely used in corn belt areas. PLUMBER GIVES TIP.

All work is done by six men. Each of us four operators is equally responsible for all equipment. All of us sim to have an equal investment in farm machinery. We keep records of the time put in by each man. tise of equipment, repair parts, and all other items during tbe year.

TALLY SCORE. "At the close of each year we tally up the score and see what each of us has coming. Never been any complaints either." As an example, Herbert's farm isn't well established yet, but by trading labor for use of the other men's equipment, be expects to hold UP bis share of the expenses. Topic of the lesson studied at the meeting was baking bread and wartime desserts.

Farmers of eastern Iowa are finding the storage of the large corn crop quite a problem. Already most cribs are filled to the limit and temporary cribs are being constructed to handle the surplus. A number of are filling the driveway in their cribs with corn. In addition many farmers are faced with the problem of finding storage space for the soybean crop which Is being harvested. The showers of rain which have fallen the past few days have made the job of husking much easier.

The stalks had become brittle from the warm dry weather and caused considerable trouble when mechanical pickers were used. Lael Moon, Louisa county extension director, reports that altho much of the soybean crop was damaged by the early frost the outlook for seeds for next year's planting is better than last year. He predicts little damage to germination of the soybeans, especially those which were mature or nearly so when the freeze occurred. Rudolph Koch, chairman of the Scott county. U.
