Becker, president of Wartburg college in Wav-erly, and Mrs Becker, will be married to Eugene Jobst, son of Mr and Mrs Eugene W. Jobst of 1331 West Twelfth street, Davenport, at 8 p. m. today in St. Paul's Lutheran church in Waver-ly.

The nuptial ceremony will be performed by the father of the bride and by her uncle, the Rev. S. M. Becker, of Grafton, la. Miss Darlene Brandt of Denver, will sing and Prof.

E. B. Heist of Wartburg college will be at the organ. Miss Helen Boefke of Milwaukee will be maid of honor and acting as bridesmaids will be Miss Betty Jobst. sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Adelma Williams of San Antonio, Richard Jobst will serve his brother as best man and Arne Kristo of Milwaukee and Edwin Neumann of Wav-erly will be ushers.

Marilyn Jobst, sister of the bridegroom will light the candles. The bride will be gowned in white mousseline de soie with sweetheart neckline, long sleeves and a full skirt extending into a train. Her fingertip length veil will be held with a wreath of orange blossoms. She will carry a shower bouquet of pink larkspur and white daisies and will wear a strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom. Miss Boetke will be dressed in yellow, Miss Jobst in pink, Miss Williams in green and Marilyn in white.

Nordblom, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor and Herbert Mayer served his brother as best man. Ushers were B. J. Nordblom and Alfred Clark. The bride wore a light blue suit with white accessories and her flowers were white orchids.

Mrs Nordblom wore a rose dress with white accessories and her flow-ers were gardenias. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner, with members of the immediate families as guests, was served in the Pompeiian room of Hotel Blackhawk after which the couple left on a short wedding trip. For traveling the bride chose a light blue flowered print dress with white accessories. Mrs Mayer was graduated from Davenport high school and from the American Institute of Commerce and she has been employed in the district office of the Northwestern Bell Telephone while the bridegroom, a graduate of Davenport high school, is employed at the Iowa Pattern Works. Upon their return the couple will reside at 219 East Twelfth street.

Camp Fire Guardians Association to Give Program for Blind At a meeting Friday of the Camp Fire Guardians association held in the camp fire office, 303 Putnam building, plans were made for the camp fire girls to entertain the people at the blind center at the Odd Fellows hall on Saturdays. Mrs Harry Carmichael was appointed -chairman in charge of arrangements. Following the business session, Miss Marjorie Dittmer, R. gave a talk on first aid on hikes and in camp. Miss Mildred Peel was a guest.

Mrs. Helen Pries and Mrs Robert Gordon served refreshments at the close of the session. The next 'meeting will be held at Camp Abe Lincoln Aug. 26 when the association will join the council members for a session and picnic. Carnival Grove and Service Club Meet With Mrs Baughmann Carnival Grove, No.

203, Supreme Forest, Woodmens circle, and the Service club met Thursday with 18 members in attendance at the country home of Mrs Lester Baughmann on the Brady street road. Dinner was served at 1 o'clock after which the Service club held an election of officers. Those chosen were: President, Mrs B. L. Brooks; vice president, Mrs Mary Eggers of Bettendorf; secretary, Mrs Etta Harrison and treasurer, Mrs Maude Rust.

Games were played on the lawn in conclusion of the afternoon and the attendance prize was won by Mrs Brooks. North nest Turner Auxiliary Convenes About 65 members of the Ladies' auxiliary to the Northwest Davenport Turner society attended the meeting Friday evening at the hall. Two new members, Mrs Mae Daseler and Mrs Edna Peterson, were welcomed by the group. Plans were completed for a picnic to be held Friday noon at the hall and it was decided that each member is to take a covered dish. Attendance awards went to Mrs Alice Moore and Miss Ruth Left to right, Miss Joan Wilson CNJOYING a summer vacation after an active year at Goucher college, Baltimore, where as freshmen they were roommates, are Miss Joan Wilson, daughter of Judge Herbert E.

Wilson and Mrs Wilson of Indianapolis, and her hostess. Miss Margery Ann Johnson, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Blair Johnson, 1142 East Central Park avenue. Miss Johnson was hostess at a small swimming party Wednesday at the Country club and Thursday Miss Jackie Smith, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Kirby of Crestine Terrace entertained. On Friday, Miss Wilson was honored at a tea given by Mrs William Moellers to Observe Their 45th Wedding Anniversary 1R and Mrs William Moeller of iT1 801 East Central Park avenue, Davenport, will observe their 45th wedding anniversary Wednesday, July 25, and in celebration of the event a family dinner will be held in the evening at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Robert Larkin, of 2953 Grand avenue, Davenport. Covers will be laid for ten.

The marriage of the former Miss Meta Von Doehren and Mr Moeller took place July 25, 1900, in Davenport, and the couple have' lived here since that time. The Moellers have two children, Mrs Robert Larkin and. Miss Esther Moeller of Davenport. There are two grandchildren, Kenneth and Joann Larkin. Mr Moeller is in the grocery business.

Shirley Rae Schmidt Has First Birthday Friday marked the first birthday anniversary of Shirley Rae Schmidt, daughter of Raymond Schmidt, fireman second class in the navy, and Mrs Schmidt of Route No. 2, Davenport. In celebration of the occasion, a party was held in the evening with about 15 relatives and friends as guests. Cards were played and later refreshments were served. Shirley Rae received many gifts.

Mr Schmidt has been stationed in the South Pacific for about a year. Members of the Dr. Esther Missionary circle and their families enjoyed a picnic supper Friday evening on the lawn of Grace Methodist church. There were approximately 40 persons present. After the supper the evening hours were spent informally.

AF interest is the announcement of the approaching marriage of Miss Arline M. Dubinsky, daughter of Mrs Maurice M. Dubinsky of the Hotel Mississippi and the late Maurice M. Dubinsky, to Capt. Seymour I.

Shapiro oi the army medical corps, the son of Mr and Mrs A. F. Shapiro of the Mississippi hotel. The wedding will take place at 6:30 p. m.

Tuesday in the Gold room of the Hotel Blackhawk with Rabbi Abram Vossen Goodman of Temple Emanuel officiating at the double ring ceremony in the presence of the immediate families and close relatives. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner will be held in the Empire room of the Hotel Black-hawk. Miss Dubinsky was graduated from the Davenport high school and for two years attended the State University of Iowa at Iowa City, where she was affiliated with Sigma Delta Tau sorority. She was formerly secretary to Philip Sitrick of the Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. Capt.

Shapiro recently returned to this country after serving for a year and one-half as a flight surgeon with the Eighth air force in England. A graduate of the Davenport high school, he received his M. D. degree from the University of Iowa medical school in 1941 and was called to active duty July 1, 1942, following completion of his interneship at the university hospital. At the termination of his leave he will report at Sioux Falls.

The wedding will take place at 8 p. m. Sunday, July 22, in St. John's Methodist church, with the Rev. John Atkins, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, officiating at the double-ring ceremony.

Miss Lorain Johnson, sister of the bridegroom, will act as maid of honor and George Sontag will serve as best man. The bride will wear a gabardine dress of pale maize with black accessories and a corsage of orchids. Miss Heggerness attended the Minneapolis schools and is employed at Montgomery Ward Co. Mr Johnson a graduate of the Davenport high school, is a vocalist with radio station WOC.

The couple will make their home at 622 Carey avenue, Davenport. R. Cox of North Terre Haute, at 3 p. m. today at a double ring ceremony in the rectory of Holy Family Catholic church. Miss Mary Noppe of Moline was maid of honor and Raymond Anderson, seaman in the navy, of East Moline, served as best man.

The bride wore an afternoon dress of light weight wool in egg shell shade with black accessories and her attendant was attired in a crepe dress of pale pink with black accessories. They wore corsages of roses. After the ceremony a dinner was held for the wedding party and the immediate families at the bride's parental home. A three-tier wedding cake centered the table, which was decorated with fbouquets of sweetpeas. The couple will leave on a two weeks wedding trip to New York where they will visit Dr.

H. R. Cox of Suffern and Paul R. Cox of Glen Falls. The bride is a graduate of St.

Mary's high school in Moline and i was formerly employed at the I Ordnance Steel Co. in Betten dorf. Sgt. Cox was graduated from the Garfield high school in Terre Haute and was employed as advertising manager at the Hulman Co. there before entering the service about three years ago.

He recently returned from 24 months' overseas service with the air transport command in the China-Burraa-India theater. At the end of a 45-day furlough Sgt. Cox will report Aug. 30 at Ft. Totten, N.

for reassignment. He wears a Presidential Citation, a Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater of Operations Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific theater ribbon with two battle stars. His bride will return to five with her parents. Mrs L. R.

Troth Announced MISS CATHERINE GOETSCH IR and Mrs Arthur J. Goetsch 1,1 of 2128 West Second street, Davenport, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Catherine Goetsch, to Staff Sgt. Reinhart J. Thoensen, son of Mr and Mrs Reinhart J. Thoensen of 225 Washington street.

No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Goetsch is a graduate of Davenport high school and she is employed by the Industrial Engineering Equipment Co. of this city. Staff Sgt. Thoensen attended the Davenport schools and he has been in the army for the last three years, just recently returning from 18 months' service overseas.

He was with the 15th Air force in Italy and received the presidential unit citation with an Oak Leaf cluster for meritorious service. Upon completion of a 30-day recuperation furlough, he reported to the Sioux Falls army air base at Sioux Falls, S. D. JOSEPH MERTL Mrs Bertha Hladik of LeClaire, Mrs Agnes Gazurek of Newport News, Mrs Mildred Vobr of Cresco, Mrs Anna Hilak of Milwaukee, and Mrs Emma Slama of Donahue, la. Five of the Mertls' 19 grandchildren are in the service.

They are Raymond Hladik, Edward Vobr, Edwin and Robert Hilak and Carl Gazurek, all in the army. There are five great grandchildren. Mr Mertl was employed by the Bettendorf Co. for over 25 years before his retirement a year ago. it i n't, I i 1 Jr MACTAGGART St.

Katharine's school, attended Monticello college in Godfrey, 111., and Augustana college. After his graduation from St. Ambrose academy, Mr Spaeth attended Holy Cross college in Worcester, and St. Ambrose college, receiving his degree at the latter school. He is employed at the Rock Island arsenal.

The news of the engagement was revealed at an informal tea Saturday afternoon at the MacTaggart residence. Weds in Oklahoma MRS LEONARD SCHARFF ANNOUNCEMENT is made of the marriage of Miss Eileen Shipley, daughter of Mr and Mrs Leo Shipley of LeClaire, to Pvt. Mrs Scharff is a graduate of the LeClaire high school and has been employed in the office of the Independent Baking Co. Pvt. Scharff was employed at the Rock Island arsenal before entering the service in 1942 A veteran of 20 months' duty in the Aleutians, he is now stationed at Camp Gruber, Okla. His wife will reside with her parents. Mr and Mrs Stubbe Observe Their 25th Wedding Anniversary Mr and Mrs Charles H.

Stubbe of 1601 College avenue, Davenport, observed their silver wedding anniversary Friday evening at a family dinner, with their two sons, Sgt. Robert F. Stubbe, who was here from Winter General hospital, Topeka, Kan.t for the occasion, and Eugene C. Stubbe, who is employed at the Swan Engineering Co. A gift of a money tree from their sons centered the table.

The former Miss Marie Cepican and Mr Stubbe were married July 20, 1920, in the rectory of Sacred Heart cathedral, with the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. Flannagan officiating. Mis Stubbe was born in Davenport and Mr Stubbe in Pleasant Valley.

They have lived here since their marriage. Mr Stubbe is manager of the Standard Oil service station at 1330 Harrison street. She is now a student at Washington university in St. Louis, majoring in social sciences, and she will receive her degree early in September.

Mr-Jobst was graduated from the Davenport high school and St. John's Junior college in Winfield, Kan. He attended Washington university for a year before enrolling at the Concordia seminary in St. Louis, where he was gradui ated July 13. He will be prdained to the ministry Sept.

9 at Trinity Lutheran church, Davenport, and will enter the navy chaplain service in October. After the ceremony the couple will go to St. Louis, where the bride will continue her studies. The event will be in the form of a personal shower. Mrs Nagel will leave the middle of August to join her husband, a member of the marine corps, now stationed at Pensacola, Fla. Harry Schmidts Are Guests in Davenport Mr and Mrs Harry Schmidt and their children, Malcolm and Mar-got Schmidt, left today for their home in Ames, after visiting here for the last few days as the houseguests of Mr and Mrs Otto Nobis of near Davenport. Mrs Hein and Mrs Esbaum are daughters of the George Knoches, and Mrs Hadley is a sister of Mrs Knoche. Rev. L. J. Enright To Quietly Observe His 82nd Birthday The Rev. L.

J. Enright, pastor emeritus of Holy Family Catholic church, Davenport, will observe his 82nd birthday anniversary quietly Sunday with his sisters, the Misses Anne and Elizabeth Enright, at their home, 215 East Fourteenth street. He has been receiving congratulatory cards and messages for several days. Father Enright, who served for nearly 46 years as pastor of Holy Family church, which he founded in 1897, was born in Donahue, la. He studied at St.

Ambrose college, Mount St. Mary's in Cincinnati and the Catholic university in Washington, D. and was ordained to the priesthood Dec. 27, 1892, in Sacred Heart cathedral. The couple were married fifty years ago in Czechoslovakia, where they were both born, and they came to this country in 1912, moving to Davenport in 1916. They are the parents of seven children: Sgt.
